Newsletter

  • Personal, friendly, conversational. The tone of voice should be even more personal than the site, because these are our loyal subscribers.
  • The main item should point to something unique. A new product. A great new video. An upcoming hangout. Amazing Facebook stats or something interesting.
  • Main photo should be unique and beautiful, not just a repeat of something already published.
  • Clear call to action. Ideally to something new on the site. Or at least, if not fresh new, a new way, like through a new doorway etc. One example would be when we did the music competition. We could have sent a newsletter about it both before and after etc.
  • The style of design should be consistent with, but not totally restricted by, the design of the site.

Social Media

Facebook

  • Facebook post blurb: short, enticing, “this applies to you” type of message. 1-2 sentences. Style is ALL CAPS HEADER and 1-2 sentences on a new line. For example:

FIGHTING FOR LOVE

We are sometimes called to fight for something bigger than ourselves. This is the story of Michael’s fight to honor the life of his father and support those affected by the tragedy of cancer.

  • Occasionally it is good to post entire content of article on Facebook for more direct engagement with the content
